Created for Community

It’s no secret that we thrive in community. Whether we consider ourselves an introvert or an extrovert, we need each other.

People long for intentional connections with one another. In fact, love and belonging are two of our basic human needs.

With cell phones in our back pockets and the world at our fingertips, we are digitally connected with more people now more than ever, yet so many of us find ourselves feeling alone, and longing for quality, intentional interactions.

How can we combat thoughts and feelings of lonilness?

While it may sound unromantic and even a little rigid, it can be helpful to plan our quality time with each other. This can be weekly meetings with our small groups through our local church, a monthly meet up for brunch with a mentor, once a week lunch with friends, date night with our signifiant other, or a good old-fashioned sit down dinner with our family.

For many of us the idea of adding anything to our already full-to-the-brim schedules can feel daunting and overwhelming. While we long for community, we may feel like it is impossible to add anything else to our busy lives, even if it’s a good and a healthy thing to do.

Maybe this sounds familiar to you. Perhaps you want to grow in this area but are unsure where to start.

Counseling can help!

At Hope Seay Counseling, I help people just like you explore their day-to-day schedules.

Together we will consider where changes can be applied to help you create space for planned intentional connections with your loved ones.

When we are connected with our people, thoughts and feelings of loneliness, sadness, and even depression and anxiety can begin to subside.

Planning quality time does not need to feel over-scheduled or like it’s “checking off a box.” Creating healthy relational habits, like scheduling quality time with those we love, can set us up for success and help us feel connected while meeting our basic human need to be loved and to belong.

Meeting with a counselor can help ensure there is time throughout your day, weeks, and months to prioritize what you value. It can bring clarity as you work closely with your counselor to identify what is important to you, get it planned, and follow through with attainable action steps.

Meeting with a counselor regularly can add an extra layer of accountability to ensure you make the changes you want to make and get the results you want, both interpersonally and relationally.

If making regular intentional, quality interactions with your family and friends is something you would like to improve, let’s get in touch. Together we can explore how counseling can help you get and stay connected with those around you. You may find you simply need a reset in your overall time management and planning skills and counseling can provide you with tools to do that!

Thank you for your time and I look forward to hearing from you soon.

Take care!
